Building the plus between flights, family, and long walks.

The holiday season can make focus feel slippery. Between traveling for Broken Compass and spending time with family and friends, Alex and I have been moving a lot but the work behind sunday+ hasn’t slowed down.

If anything, it’s deepened.

While on the road, we’ve been intentionally expanding our circle seeking out people who truly understand the science, craft, and care behind what we’re building. During our week in the UK, that effort led us to two incredible women who have already made a meaningful impact on our journey.

One of them is a leading sports bra researcher in the UK, someone deeply involved in ongoing research around movement, support, and how bodies actually move. Our first conversation wasn’t about design or solutions just yet; it was about getting to know each other, sharing perspectives, and laying the groundwork for future conversations. Even in that initial call, it was immediately clear how thoughtful and knowledgeable she is, and how valuable her insight will be as we move forward. We’re incredibly excited to continue learning from her and to dive deeper into the current research as we begin shaping the next phases of sunday+.

The second meeting happened in person and became one of the highlights of our UK trip. Joanne Jørgenson is a leader in the textile world, with over 25 years spent on the front lines of research and development. Today, she uses that experience to help guide startups through her coaching and advisory work at teamglue.co, and sitting down with her felt like plugging directly into decades of hard earned knowledge. What began as a one hour lunch naturally turned into a three hour lunch and walk, filled with design conversations, material exploration, and thoughtful discussions around how emerging technologies could be integrated into what we’re building. Those are the moments that reignite the fire the kind that remind us why we’re doing this.

She generously shared contacts, pointed us toward companies for prototyping, and helped us see our next steps more clearly.

Meeting both of these women moved us forward in a very real way. As we begin stepping into the prototyping phase, we’re feeling supported, informed, and energized and deeply grateful for the people willing to walk alongside us as we build sunday+, wherever the road takes us.
