Finding Our Rhythm on the Road
Traveling and working at the same time isn’t easy, especially during the holidays. These last few weeks have been a blur of airports, early mornings, family visits, and excitement as we chase opportunities that help us grow sunday+. It’s a beautiful kind of chaos, but it’s still chaos. And even in the messiness of moving around, we’ve had some really meaningful moments.
One of the highlights was visiting Made in Old Town, a design community and lab right here in Portland. Just a short walk from home. We’d heard great things, but stepping inside made everything click. Within the first hour, Alex and I looked at each other with that “Yep… this is it” feeling.
Melissa gave us a full tour of the space, walking us through the lab, the equipment, and the different creative work areas. It was a little overwhelming in the best way one of those “wow, there is so much possibility here” moments. You could feel the energy of people making things, experimenting, imagining, building.
At the end of the tour, we had the chance to talk with Liz, the executive director. We shared what we’re trying to do with sunday+, and she instantly understood it. More than that, she encouraged it. Those few minutes with her left us feeling even more confident and energized about the path we’re on.
All in all, the visit was exactly what we needed. A reminder that even in the middle of nonstop travel, there are places and people along the way who help you feel grounded and inspired.
We can’t wait for our first lab day this week and to start bringing more of our ideas to life. Big things are brewing, and it feels good to be surrounded by a community that believes in what we’re building.
