Prototyping, Pivot Points, and the Power of Community

They say, "Just start." So, this week, we did.

We headed over to one of the Mill End Stores here in Portland, grabbed some materials, and set out with a seemingly simple goal: take a pre existing bra and replicate it. We wanted to see what it really takes to build a "standard" garment before we start innovating on our own.

The Reality of V0.1

Spoiler alert: It’s not just sewing three layers of fabric together.

Our first big "Aha!" moment (and by "Aha!" I mean "Oh no") was discovering we bought the wrong material. Way too much stretch. We realized quickly that "standard" is a lot more technical than it looks. But honestly? It felt incredible to finally have our hands on the fabric and actually make something. V0.1 wasn't a failure; it was a baseline.

Fueling Up at the Metro Region Innovation Lab

On Friday, we stepped out of the studio and into a founders event at the Metro Region Innovation Lab. If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that being around like minded people is a total battery recharge.

We walked away with two major takeaways:

  1. Community is everything. The connections we made, from potential collaborators to peers sharing raw advice, reminded us why we're doing this.

  2. Our website needs work. We got some honest feedback that the current site is a bit "clunky." So, consider this your headsup: a fresh, streamlined version of sundayplus.net is coming in the next few weeks!

The Word of the Week: Details

If I had to sum up this week in one word, it’s Details. Through the prototyping struggles and the founder feedback, we’ve realized that every single touchpoint matters. Whether it’s the tension of a stitch or the user experience on our homepage, the details are where community and trust are built.

We’re asking ourselves: What can we do today that will have a long term impact on our goals? Right now, the answer is obsessing over those small things that make a massive difference.

It’s a steep learning curve, but we’re so glad to have you along for the ride.
